Most of the gay Koh Samui diving takes place around Koh Tao where there is over 10 dive sites to choose from but according to gay Adam Preston of Rainbow-Scuba, (and confirmed by gay Suzy Size) most gay people prefer to base themselves on nearby Koh Samui. Gay Koh Samui is a more central location for exploring the region and has a lot more to offer the gay traveler in terms of gay accommodation, gay bars, gay clubs and gay restaurants.

From gay Koh Samui it is easy to reach sheltered bays of Koh Tao and the deep dive sites like Sail Rock as well as other areas of outstanding natural beauty like Ang Tong National Marine Park. You get to spend time on Koh Samui and also experience the spectacular scenery at gay Koh Tao and Koh Nanguan.

The Ang Tong National Marine Park is within sight of gay Koh Samui to the north and west but is geographically different from the other islands in the region. It is made up of 42 islands featuring lime stone massifs, tropical rainforests and deserted beaches. Well worth a visit for exploring and kayaking but Adam warns against making a scuba trip to this area. In spite of the sales pitch of many dive operators on gay Koh Samui, the visibility is very rarely good enough to make enjoyable scuba diving, he explains.
